Review of Cuisinart DCC-1150
Coffee Maker
Our initial thoughts about Cuisinart DCC-1150 are pretty comparable as
from other consumers. The unit is getting marks from average to good. That means the
Cuisinart DCC-1150 is just slightly above average brewer.
The Cuisinart DCC-1150 10cup coffeemaker can be rated as an above average model.Your money is well spent and you
will not have any regrets as it is a solid investment and the Cuisinart DCC 1150 will do the job of brewing to your
liking. Certain stores don’t include the gold-tone filter when you buy this model. It has to be purchased
separately. But if you buy from reputable companies like Amazon the gold-tone filter is included with your order of
the DCC-1150 Thermal 10 Cup Programmable
CoffeeMaker
We were surprised as the Cuisinart DCC-1150 10cup machine worked flawlessly
when we put it on some regular brewing tests. Because the unit comes with thermal carafe you can actually save some
energy and pay smaller electrical bill because you don’t need to continuously heat the carafe. The coffee stays hot
for up to 2 hours. Brewing time was about 11 munites. We found that the taste stays pretty much the same even
after four hours in the carafe. A series
of five beeps alerts you when the brew cycle has finished. Because the thermal carafe is opaque, you cannot tell
how much coffee has already brewed like you could with a glass carafe. This limitation makes it even more important
to have a brew-pause feature so you can pour yourself one whenever you like, regardless of whether the brew
cycle has finished. A nice function is the auto shutoff immediately after brewing, which saves energy. We noticed
that using the pour-through lid on the carafe was a little slower than pouring with a standard glass carafe,
particularly with the last few cups.
We did not get that spoiled taste as we sometimes get when we test different machines. It comes in black and white
colours.
PROS:
-
The unit is very easy to use and to set it up for the
brewing
-
Charcoal water filter (great if you use tap water)
-
Auto brew timer (You set it up the night before and in the morning you have fresh java ready). Now that
is convenience.
-
It has a signal that lets you know when the coffee is ready
-
Fresh coffee for up to four hours
-
Eco friendly thermal carafe that saves energy because there is no need for heating the warming
plate.
-
The choice of using paper and gold tone filters. The gold tone filter is very easy to clean. All you
need to do is shake out the grinds into the trash, and rinse with water. This is great if you want to
save some money because then you don't have to buy filters!
-
The water level is very clearly marked and easy to see on the right side
of the machine.
CONS
:
-
The beep is not just one cute beep. It is 4 or 5 beeps in a row. This could be annoying to some
people.
-
Some people have commented on the pouring as "difficult." I think it is the nature of a thermal carafe
to require some patience when pouring into a cup. It is well sealed to keep the coffee hot, so when you
pour, the liquid has to go through a maze to get out
-
If your coffee machine sits in the middle of your countertop, you may have to turn it to the side in
order to pour the water in.
